Spell Out Strategy

I have posted about the Spell Out Strategy before, but now we have a video! San Francisco member, Fred Brundage, shows how this strategy looks with a first grade student. Remember that this is a great strategy for unknown sight words. You do not want to use it for too many words at a time, but when a student is having a hard time with a sight word, this strategy works well. As always, remember that sight words are supposed to become automatic, so don’t try to have the students sound them out, but rather have them practice the words until they are memorized.
